1. Barclaycard Taxis at Business Travel Show 2019

   We had a pleasure to work with Barclaycard during this year’s Business Travel Show

    

   Sherbet London has provided an exclusive shuttle taxi service to the Business Travel Show at Olympia London. Throughout the event, our Sherbet Marshalls were based at Earl’s Court and Shepherds Bush underground stations from early hours were taking BTS Visitors to their Barclaycard branded taxis. Marshalls were also distributing Barclaycard leaflets and encouraging visitors to see their stand at the show and receive a free hot beverage.

   Overall, the Barclaycard #FutureOfPayments PR taxi activity was a huge success promoting and discussing the future of travel payments and launching Barclaycard new partnership with Amadeus.

   Electric taxis are becoming popular on London’s streets with constant growing interest from both passenger’s and driver’s side

   Here are some new exciting features which make the passenger love and appreciate electric taxi rides.

    

   Recently, I was able to ride as a passenger in the newest Sherbet Electric taxi around London. The first thing that stands out is how spacious it is – there were six available passenger seats including wheelchair accessibility which makes the ride truly pleasant and comfortable.

   The passenger area utters a luxurious feel. The high ceiling which is, in fact, a panoramic roof, for the first time gives the passenger an opportunity to discover London’s sky comfortably from their seat. This feature makes you realise how much the passenger was missing out on when sited under the usual blank roof. The ride in an electric taxi creates a feeling that can be compared to sitting in an isolated VIP compartment rather than the seats of a taxi.

    

   Licensed London taxis are known for being loud. You will be surprised how hardly noticeable the movement of the electric taxi is. They are absent from the noisy diesel and clanging vibrations of taxis’ older versions. You can easily unwind, work or relax and hold a conversation without any noise disruptions.

   London electric vehicle company (LEVC) has equipped every TXE taxi with USB charging points as well as a full-size power socket which can be used to charge your laptop or smartphone for example. On top of that, you’re able to gain access to free 4G Wifi while onboard, control air conditioning with climate control and switch on/off the speaker to communicate with your taxi driver. You can also make payments via cash and card including contactless.

   • Smooth Ride

   Comparing to diesel TX4’s the Sherbet London Electric Taxis offers a significantly smoother and effortless ride for both the driver and passengers. Firstly, the TXE has regenerative braking which essentially slows the vehicle when you lift your foot off the accelerators. It is incredibly quiet and unlike the diesel engine, the driving noise is hardly noticeable on the streets and inside the taxi.

   A few months ago, we launched a new initiative helping newly qualified taxi drivers go from badge presentation day to working as a London taxi driver

   Test Drives, Inductions, and Training Sessions

    

   Newly passed out drivers who decided to rent from Sherbet receive full training on all aspects of the taxi including the disabled equipment, taxi meter, credit card system, and advice on electric taxi charging. There is also a chance to ask our Driver team (who are working taxi drivers) any question they may have regarding their new career.

   Sherbet’s in-house trainer said “The training is invaluable for new drivers since the scrapping of the driving exam a few years ago I feel drivers need this training. We show drivers all elements in operating the taxi including the wheelchair ramp, hints, and tips on driving the taxi and operating the meter and card system.

   I also pass my mobile number to all new drivers they are free to call me any time should they have any further questions I’ve held my green badge for almost 15 years, and I love passing on what I have learned.’

   Since the start of the initiative, we’ve had many new qualified drivers come through and we are proud to welcome them into the Sherbet family.

   Peter who recently received our training said, “I found the training well worthwhile and feel more prepared to hit the streets, also I have Daren’s number if I need any help in the future”.
